MUSEUM OF ANATOMY

Exposition design

RSU Anatomy Museum exhibition is based on anatomical preparations collection established by professor Jēkabs Prīmanis in 1920-30th, and now it is exhibited in restored historical horse stable.

Permanent exhibition concept developed together with Dd Studio intends to maintain aura of historical collection and use principles of classic anatomy museums. At the same time the goal is to create up-to-date multimedia framework that would make a collection visually more impressive and user-friendly, and would give additional dimensions for its content and enrich opportunities to communicate available content to various audiences.

Permanent exhibition is located on the building's first and the basement floors, and visitors can see the exhibits from existing anatomy and anthropology collections. The exposition space is arranged in dark grey colours, to recreate the mystery and darkness of human inner chambers. While some rooms in contrast are pale pink or light grey to balance the distressing content. Part of exhibits are displayed in restored authentic display cases from the first half of the 20th century, that resembles the atmosphere of the beginning of the 20th century when the collection was established.
